She sings with a strongly-accented voice that emanates everything sweet and seductively coy and is, for me at least, the most alluring facet of her Eurobeat-esque Swedish pop songs. In awe, like a lost child wandering in dark woods alone, she lyricizes of romantic miracles; wishing for requited love, and here, the gift of her "Love in July". One more heartbreak anthem of Italo Disco persuasion please, Sally Shapiro.

"Love in July", as opposed to the majority of her electro ballads that sink in instantly, took a while to sit right with me. Although the verse is carried with steady grace and expectancy on textures of warm piano chords, sweeping synth, and a bit of Röyksopp style bass and beats, the chorus key change is awkward-- an issue that, on repeat listens, becomes a compliment of the piece, not a falter. After all, how many times do we want to hear a regular pop chord structure where any move can be predetermined? This chorus instead evolves and becomes the heart of the piece where, from reminiscing depths of the verses, her love-struck, lonely voice rockets up (much as the goldfish in the animated video-- watch it!) into high notes that flourish in melodious valleys of hope and unlikely, unexpected love. "Love in July" is not where Shapiro's romantic equations have failed but where they can come true.
