Instruction for Beginners

Windows 7 is a good, fast and reliable system (in spite of the status of RC).

But there is a system even better, and this is, I want to tell you.

Server Microsoft Systems series has always distinguished by high productivity and reliability. The team that makes these systems is higher priorities.

Windows Server 2008 ® R2 takes the stability of Server 2008 and incorporates many new features from Windows 7.

I will tell you how to install the latest version of Server 2008 R2 GOLD FINAL (Windows 7 line), as well as tell you a few simple steps on how to convert it into a great workstation.

I work in a this system 1 month.

I am sure that within a few days using this system, you will not return to Windows 7.

Let's start in order.

1. Installation

Boot from DVD:

Choose Enterprise (Full Installation)

Choose Custom (advansed):

Choose your partition:

After the installation you will need to specify a password for the Administrator account. As this is the most commonly hacked account please create an 6 — 16 digit alphanumeric random password (small and large letters are mandatory, eg: 11111aA) and keep this in a safe place.

2. Tuning

Start -> Run-> "LUSRMGR.MSC" -> users -> New User... -> Enter NAME -> select "Password newer expires" -> Create

Double click -> member off -> user -> remove

-> add -> advanced

-> Find Now

-> Administrators -> OK

Start -> Run -> "control userpasswords2" -> Click -> Remove checkbox "Users must enter a user name and password... " -> Apply

-> enter password -> OK

Start -> Run-> "GPEDIT.MSC" -> Administrative templates -> system -> Display Shutdown Event Tracker -> Double Click

disable -> OK

REBOOT...

Administrative templates -> system -> Do not display Manage Your Server page at LogOn -> Enable -> OK

Administrative templates -> network -> QoS Packet Sheduler -> Limit Reservable Bandwidth -> Enable -> 0 -> OK

Start -> Computerer -> right click -> Manage -> Configure IE Sec ->

--> Off both options.

Enable Vindows 7 Experience (look & feel including Aero, Media Player etc.)

Start -> Server Manager -> Features -> Add Feature

-> Desktop Experience

and

.NET Framework 3.5.1 Feature

Enable Wireless Support (If this is you need)

Start -> Server Manager -> Features -> Add Feature -> Wireless LAN Services

Enable Audio support

Start -> Run -> "SERVICES.MSC" -> Windows Audio -> Automatic

Start -> Run -> "SERVICES.MSC" -> Windows Audio Endpoint Builder -> Automatic

Enable Themes

Start -> Run -> "Service.msc" -> Themes -> Automatic

Enable Windows Search (for searching outlook emails)

Start -> Server Manager -> Roles -> Add Roles -> File Services -> Windows Search

Enable SuperFetch

Start->Run->"regedit"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters

Add a new DWORD by the name of EnablePrefetcher and assign is the value of 3
Add a new DWORD by the name of EnableSuperfetch and assign is the value of 3

Start->Run->"services.msc"->SuperFetch->Automatic

Setting Processor Scheduling

Start->Control Panel ->System ->Advanced system settings-> Advanced -> Performance -> Settings->Advanced->Adjust best performance->Programs

Changing DEP Mode

Start->Control Panel ->System ->Advanced system settings-> Advanced -> Performance -> Settings-> Data Execution Prevention-> Turn On DEP for essential Windows programs and services.

Remove PageFile (< = 4 Gb RAM)

Set Environment Varibles

(Create Folder C:\TEMP)

Power Option -> High Performance

    с чего бы эт он быстрее, лучше и стабильнее? ядро с хп одно и тоже
    нах на сервере медиа плеер?
    могу бы вместо описания установки AIK'ом сделать файл автоответов, чтобы установка происходила в фоновом режиме, без участия пользователя

      Да и IE7 баян, вроде, уже. У меня надолго не задержался. Падал постоянно, никакие переустановки не помогали, очень раздражало. IE8 не падает.

      а ввааще, почему xp сравнивают с server ?
      и почему в качестве "The best solution for your Home" предлагают "Server 2003 Standard SP2"?
